Control the fight.
Enjoy the galaxy.
A pistol-wielding Adept. One very good rifle.
A tech specialist who opens every door.
Your main squad, without the menu homework.
The next point has a job.
Choose a squadmate and a build stage.
Targets are total ranks, not extra points.
This stage’s priorities
IN ORDERRecord current ranks
Copy the ranks shown in the game. Filled cells are recorded; outlined cells are this stage’s goals.
This tracks a build, not your available point budget. Follow in-game level caps and prerequisites. No normal respec in ME1: check before confirming. [4]
Already spent points differently? Keep them. Enter the actual ranks and follow the next missing milestone. Raise defense sooner when needed; this is a comfortable route, not a test.
A short shopping list.
Loot handles the small upgrades. Spend when an item meaningfully changes how the squad plays. Check off acquired targets.
Buy an improvement.
Not a permission slip.
No 1,000,000-credit reserve is required for this route. Do not postpone Feros or Noveria just to buy Spectre gear.
Fix the weakest linkA meaningful biotic amp upgrade, badly outdated armor, or useful medi-gel / grenade capacity.
Upgrade the main gunsHMWP VII for Shepard → HMWA VII for Ashley. Reverse them only if her rifle is the bigger problem.
Make the tech specialist comfortableA better omni-tool or quarian armor before a luxury shotgun.
Late-game polishSpectre X, Savant gear, strong armor and mods when available. VII weapons remain entirely usable.
Ammo & weapon mods: the useful version
Against synthetics
Armor-Piercing early, Tungsten later. Keep these ready for geth-heavy missions.
Against organics
Anti-Personnel early, Shredder later. Inferno is a convenient later general-purpose option.
For heat management
Use a heat-management mod when overheating interrupts the fun. Add damage when cooling is already comfortable.
For a little chaos
High Explosive Rounds can turn a shotgun into a knockback toy. The heat penalty makes it a situational choice, not the everyday default.
Unmodded Legendary Edition: look for Spectre VII after promotion; check X during the late Citadel return after the main worlds. Vendor stock and other high-tier gear are not guaranteed on a particular visit. Useful manufacturer licenses are optional; they expand Normandy stock, not guarantee specific items. [14]
A route, not a checklist.
Story names and gameplay gates only.
One consequential choice stays concealed.
UNC: Rogue VI → Bastion
Available at level 11 in Legendary scaling / 20 in Classic scaling, with the call on system travel. Take the detour even if the rest of this route is unfinished. Drones resist physics-based biotics: lean on Ashley’s guns and Tali’s tech. [21]
Make the squad click.
Control first. Unlike ME2/3, ME1 lets many shielded enemies be lifted or caught in Singularity. Do not make shield-stripping a mandatory first step. Resistant enemies and drones are exceptions. [13] [21]
Pause when it helps. Use the power wheel for a deliberate opening, then let Ashley shoot. These are tactical sequences, not ME2/3-style biotic detonations. [13]
Sources & build assumptions Mechanical facts checked · recommendations are editorial
This guide assumes unmodded Mass Effect 1 in Legendary Edition, a new Adept run, pistols for Shepard, and Ashley + Tali as the main squad. No bonus talent, exploit, perfect loot roll, or maximum-level completion is required. The four build stages describe priorities, not a promise of enough points at a particular mission. Difficulty and actual progress were not supplied; move defense earlier as needed.
Two details are easy to miss: Tali needs Pistols 6 to unlock Shotguns, and the Bastion Stasis damage perk needs Bastion 12. Rogue VI unlocks at Legendary 11 / Classic 20. Original-game guides are used only for mechanics retained in Legendary Edition; weapon behavior, Immunity and Spectre availability are checked against LE-specific sources.
